We present this colłection in honour of our colleague Bogdan Szymanek on the occasion of his 65th birthday. One of the most eminent łinguists of recent times has been an icon for many teachers of morphology and generał linguistics for a few decades. His books always sell well, his presence at conferences is always welcome and hę is a person to look up to for many łinguists deałing with Polish, English and many other langu-ages. His linguistic interests have constantly been cłose to the cohcept of word .
